Both teams were strong on the bump on Thursday, but the Hamden Miners were better than the Meriden Riptide, defeating the Riptide by a score of 2-0.
Hamden got on the board in the first inning after Darren Gasparri doubled, scoring one run. That would be all they needed today on offense.
The Miners pushed across another run in the second. Ashmer Pedraza singled on the sixth pitch of the at-bat, making the score 2-0.
Sawyer Gracel earned the win for Hamden. The reliever scattered five hits and zero runs across five innings, striking out three and walking none. Antonio Fusco opened the game for the Miners. The lefty surrendered zero hits and zero runs over two innings, striking out none and walking two batters. The Miners turned two double plays behind the two pitchers.
