Miners Unfold in Seventh, Drop Matchup Vs. Black Knights

After plating the game’s first run in the first inning, Hamden held a 1-0 advantage until the final inning where the Black Knights took the late lead. The 2-1 loss is the first game of back-to-back home matchups for the Miners.
Senior starter Dylan Ellison continued his impressive season on the mound for Hamden with six innings while allowing no runs and only two hits. He kept the Southington bats tamed while striking out four.
Junior Kyle Cyr mustered the only hit for Hamden in the bottom of the first with his RBI single to bring home Hamden’s reigning Player of the Week Devon McMorris.
The Black Knights took the lead in the seventh inning while down to their final out following an RBI single to bring home the tying and go ahead run. Jack Lewis was on the bump for Hamden in relief during the last inning.
The offense went cold with only four baserunners compared to 15 strikeouts as a team. A positive note found Hamden stealing four bases (McMorris with two, Cyr and Tyler Kornacki both stealing one).
Hamden will aim to brush this tough loss off with another home game on Tuesday evening vs. Danbury.
