In a deficit as large as four runs early in the game, Hamden stuck the course and rallied back for a 9-5 win over Goldstar on Thursday evening. A big six run fifth inning by the Miners was key for the victory.

Center fielder Kyle Cyr got the scoring started with his RBI single to bring home Devon McMorris for an early 1-0 Hamden advantage. Goldstar plated five unanswered runs in the next inning to take a 5-1 lead.

A bases loaded walk from John Onofrio followed by an RBI single by Brady Dammling cut the deficit in half to make it a 5-3 ballgame after three innings. The Generals tagged Miners starter Jack Lewis for five runs in the second inning, however, he calmed the offense down with his four innings of work.

The fifth inning saw Matthew Mangini and Nico DiGioia both get hit by a pitch with the bases full to tie the game at five. Catcher Luka Faulkner flipped the game upside down with his bases clearing single to give Hamden an 8-5 lead, one they would not let slip away.

The Miners bullpen stepped up mightily with pitchers Joshua Santiago and the McIntire twins, Adam and Aaron all throwing a shutout inning in relief. Aaron McIntire slammed the door in the seventh by striking out the side.

Back-to-back wins in back-to-back days have Hamden geared up for their next game next Monday night at home vs. Waterbury.
