Waterbury defeated Hamden Friday night by a final score of 4-2. A late inning push by the Silverbacks propelled them to a close victory. With the devastating loss, Hamden’s losing streak continues.
The Silverbacks had the initial lead until Hamden grabbed it in the bottom of the fourth. Tyler Kornacki doubled to drive home Devon McMorris as the driving run as a bases loaded walk of John Onofrio put the Miners in front.
Joshua Santiago kept Waterbury at bay with his three innings of shutout pitching, surrendering one hit and striking out three.
A three-run top of the sixth for Waterbury gave them the lead back as they wouldn’t lose this one. Unfortunately for the Miners, they couldn’t recover from the late inning offense as they would fail to stage a comeback.
Hamden looks to break the schnide with a Sunday afternoon road matchup as they’re slated to take on the Sailors.
