In Walk Off Fashion, the Hamden Miners Fall to the Bridgeport Barnums

The Hamden Miners fell to the Bridgeport Barnums 3-2 at Seaside Park on a sacrifice fly by Ian Nilsen. The game was tied at two in the bottom of the seventh before the sacrifice fly. The pitching was strong on both sides. Bridgeport pitchers struck out seven, while Hamden pitchers sat down five.

A sacrifice fly by Greg Nivision put Hamden on the board in the top of the first. Christian Nilsen then hit another sacrifice fly, which allowed the Barnums to tie the game at one in the bottom of the second. A fielder's choice by Mike Desroches re-gave the Miners the lead, 2-1, in the top of the fourth. Nicolas Piscioniere singled down the right field line on an 0-2 count, which helped Bridgeport tie the game at two in the bottom of the fourth.

Luke Ryan took the loss for Hamden. The reliever went two-thirds of an inning, surrendering the winning run.

Tyler Kornacki set the tone at the top of the lineup, leading Hamden with two hits in four at bats. Greg Nivision led the team with one run batted in. The Miners stole three bases in the game.
