Hamden Pounces Waterbury in Last Regular Season Game

In their final game before gearing up for the playoffs, Hamden plated 12 runs on 10 hits in a shutout victory, scoring runs in each inning besides the sixth.
It was all Miners from the start. Three runs in both the first and second inning set up for an early and commanding 6-0 lead. After capitalizing on mostly small ball to get their first runs, a Devon McMorris RBI double in the top of the second broke the floodgates open as Hamden wouldn’t stop the surge from there.
The Hamden 3-4-5 hitters, Nick Feinstein, Kyle Cyr and John Diamond, combined for seven runs batted in with four hits and three walks. The middle of the order produced the most when it mattered. Two other Miners recorded an RBI in the blowout win.
As for the pitching, Sawyer DiMatteo and Luke Ryan combined for five shutout innings while striking out five hitters. The two arms fed off of a great hitting performance and followed it up with an equally dominant pitching performance.
Hamden looks to build off back-to-back wins as they may be peaking at the right time. They face off against Silk City on Wednesday evening at Henry Park in Vernon, CT.
