Hamden Miners Lose To Meriden Riptide

The Hamden Miners lost to the Meriden Riptide 5-0 on Friday.

Meriden got on the board in the second inning after Yarema Shashyn singled, scoring one run.

Meriden then added to their early lead in the bottom of the third inning when Devin Fuegen grounded out, scoring one run, and Tony Sutera tripled, scoring two runs.

John Slais took the loss for Hamden Miners. The starting pitcher went four innings, surrendering four runs (three earned) on four hits, striking out four and walking three. Brandon Cahill began the game for Meriden. The starter allowed three hits and zero runs over seven innings, striking out 14 and walking none.

Number seven hitter, Zach Noyes showed the depth of the Miners’ lineup, by leading them with two hits in three at bats. Devon McMorris stole two bases.

Next up for Hamden is a game against West Haven Sailors on Saturday.
