Hamden Miners Lose To GoldStar Generals

The Hamden Miners lost to the GoldStar Generals 8-4 on Friday.
GoldStar was the first to get on the board in the first when McCue singled, scoring one run.
The Hamden Miners jumped back into the lead in the bottom of the second inning after Matt Cinque walked, and Colin LaRosa doubled to center field, each scoring one run.
GoldStar Generals took the lead in the top of the third inning after the Hamden Miners committed an error, and Cimini hit a sacrifice fly, each scoring one run.
The Hamden Miners scored on a passed ball, which helped the Hamden Miners tie the game at three in the bottom of the fourth.
GoldStar Generals flipped the game on its head in the top of the sixth, scoring five runs on four hits to take the lead, 8-3. The biggest blow in the inning was an error that drove in two.
Dylan Ellison led things off on the bump for the Hamden Miners. The right-handed pitcher surrendered four hits and three runs (zero earned) over five innings, striking out four and walking none. Aiden Jovia took the loss for the Hamden Miners. The pitcher went two-thirds of an inning, surrendering five runs (one earned) on four hits, striking out two and walking none. Anthony Jessuck opened the game for GoldStar Generals. The starter gave up three hits and three runs (two earned) over four and one-third innings, striking out five and walking three.
Colin LaRosa and Devon McMorris each drove in one run for the Hamden Miners. Devon McMorris went 2-for-2 at the plate to lead the Hamden Miners in hits. McMorris stole three bases. The Hamden Miners ran wild on the base paths, accumulating five stolen bases for the game. The Hamden Miners turned two double plays in the game.
GoldStar Generals amassed nine hits in the game. McCue drove the middle of the lineup, leading GoldStar Generals with three runs batted in. The 3-hole hitter went 1-for-4 on the day. Treubig and Cimini each collected two hits for GoldStar Generals. GoldStar Generals were sure-handed in the field and didn't commit a single error. Basso had the most chances in the field with 10.
