Both teams were strong on the mound on Wednesday in the opening round of the CCBL Playoffs, but Simsbury was just a little bit stronger at the plate in their 1-0 victory over the Hamden Miners. Sawyer DiMatteo started the game for Hamden and pitched 6 innings only giving up 1 run. Unfortunately that was the only run Simsbury needed.
Simsbury scored that lone run when they took an early lead in the first inning of a single.

Waterbury scored first but the Miners recaptured the lead and did not let go of it as the combined efforts of 5 pitchers held on to the lead.
