A walk-off left the Hamden Miners on the wrong end of an 8-7 defeat to the Glastonbury Arrows on Wednesday. Glastonbury were down 7-6 in the bottom of the eighth inning when Alex Zimmerman doubled, scoring two runs.

Despite the loss, Hamden did collect nine hits in the high-scoring affair. Unfortunately, Glastonbury had nine hits on the way to victory.

Hamden were the first to get on the board in the first. But then the Arrows jumped back into the lead in the bottom of the first inning after James Marsden grounded out, and Zimmerman singled to center field, each scoring one run.

Hamden tied the game in the top of the seventh thanks to a fielder's choice by Devon McMorris and a wild pitch. And then a sacrifice fly by Zach Noyes gave the Miners the lead, 7-6, in the top of the eighth.

The Arrows then flipped momentum on its head, tying the game up in the bottom of the seventh and then walking it off, handing the Miners yet another tough loss. The offense was present for the Miners, which doesn’t always occur but it was the pitching that allowed the team to lose yet again.
