Hamden Miners Come Up Short Against Waterbury Silverbacks

The Hamden Miners fell to the Waterbury Silverbacks 10-6 on Sunday, eliminating them from playoff contention.

Waterbury jumped out to the lead in the top of the first inning after a homer to right field, scoring two runs, and Maico Cardona singled, scoring one run.

Waterbury Silverbacks scored six runs on seven hits in the top of the second inning. Another blast was given up as a solo home run was sent out to center field. Then Zach Drewry singled, scoring two runs, Cardona doubled, scoring one run, and Pierce Cowles singled, scoring another run. Hamden finally got out of the inning, but the damage was done.

A double extended the Waterbury Silverbacks lead to 10-4 in the top of the third inning.

Hamden tried to fight back, scoring two runs in the bottom of the fifth on a home run to center field by Tyler Kornacki.

Waterbury collected 13 hits in the game and 10 runs.

With this final loss, Hamden’s 2025 season comes to an end.
