The 2025 season saw the Hamden Miners reach the playoffs as the tenth seed with an 8-13-3 record. The team is looking to be on top of the CCBL for the first time since winning the title in 2022.

Perhaps the most notable part of the team heading into the summer are the new players on the squad. With 10 incoming first-year players, there are going to be plenty of chances to win starting spots for the plethora of young talent the squad holds. It could be a season of development as more than half of the roster are underclassmen with only nine upperclassmen.

With a combined 17 freshmen and sophomores, we can assume most position battles will take place between the underclassmen. Even with a lesser number of upperclassmen on the Hamden roster, they will serve as mentors for the majority of young players.

The pitching staff will also feature a youth movement with four first-year righty arms coming in; Anthony Aurora, Quinn Bergin, John Diamond and Griffin McCarroll will all look to make an early impact. Diamond and McCarrol are intriguing as they can each play other positions on the field (Diamond holds catching abilities while McCarrol is a utility option).

Junior Nico DiGioia is an upperclassman that could prove to be a leader for the Miners. The righty starter out of the University of Hartford is also able to play first base and the outfield. Manager Robertson will have no problem finding a spot for DiGioia on the diamond over the next couple months.

The infield looks to be occupied by three of the four returning seniors; Ryan Kolodziejczyk, Tyler Kornacki and John Onofrio. Dylan Ellison, the fourth returning senior out of Keene State University, will serve as another righty arm for the Miners pitching rotation.

Hamden only has one southpaw representative within their pitching staff. Mason McCaroll, older brother of Griffin, will have the spotlight on him as the team’s only lefty arm. The McCarroll Brothers storyline will be a fun one to follow as the summer progresses.

After missing a playoff berth in the 2025 season, the Miners are pivoting to a younger group of ballplayers in hopes to develop a competitive team in the near future. With a solid amount of upperclassmen on the roster, there’s a chance that Hamden could make a buzz in the standings of the CCBL in 2026.
