Hamden Gets Back In the Win Column With Extra Inning Thriller Vs. West Haven

It took eight innings, but the Miners snapped their four game losing streak with a 6-5 win over West Haven on Sunday. This is the Miners first time plating six runs in a game since July 7.
Hamden opened up the game with four runs in the top of the first. Tyler Kornacki’s double drove home Devon McMorris and Nick Feinstein for the game’s first two runs as Finn Matlosz knocked in Kornacki and Kyle Cyr with an RBI single.
Senior starter Antonio Fusco threw three innings of one run ball to pad the Miners lead. West Haven chipped away to make the score 4-2 through four innings. A bases-loaded walk of Brady Dammling extended it to 5-2 in the sixth, however, West Haven fought back to tie the game at five.
A scoreless seventh led to extra innings where freshman Matthew Mangini was the hero after his RBI single brought home John Diamond as the winning run.
An exhilarating victory gives Hamden a sigh of relief as they prepare for a home matchup against Waterbury on Monday night.
