The Barnums took an early lead and never looked back in their 7-1 win over the Miners on Monday night. The Hamden offense never truly got going in the loss.
Right-handed starter Joshua Santiago started the contest for Hamde and threw to a tune of 3 ⅓ innings, allowing two hits and three earned runs. Santiago struck out four in the matchup. Luke Ryan added 1 ⅔ of shutout relief for the team.
The Miners lone run came in the bottom half of the first inning while already trailing by two. Reigning Player of the Week Kyle Cyr singled to drive in Devon McMorris to cut the initial deficit in half. Cyr was one of five different Miners to record a base hit.
Bridgeport would pour on five more runs in the rest of the game, granting extra security for the win. Will Gregor’s five inning, shutout performance on the mound was important for the Barnums in the win.
Hamden will look to get back on track tomorrow in another home matchup, hosting the West Haven Sailors in the evening.
